Methodology
This page explains how we rate tools, what we evaluate in every review, and how the picks in our comparisons, alternatives, and use-case guides get made. The goal is to make every recommendation traceable back to a specific, checkable reason — not a subjective opinion.
Where the rating comes from
The star rating shown on every review is G2’s aggregate user rating for that product, not an internal NoteChase score. We check each tool’s G2 rating and review count against G2’s public listing as of the date noted on that review — G2 ratings shift as new reviews come in, so treat the number as a snapshot, not a live feed. If we haven’t verified a tool’s G2 data, we don’t estimate one: the review shows “Not yet rated on G2” instead of a placeholder number.
What we evaluate
Every review is researched against the same four dimensions, applied identically regardless of which tool we’re covering:
- Accuracy — transcription and summary quality, including how the tool handles accents, cross-talk, and technical vocabulary.
- Ease of use — how much setup and configuration is required before the tool produces useful output.
- Integrations — depth of CRM, calendar, and workflow connections, not just the length of the marketing page’s logo list.
- Value for money — what’s actually included at each price tier, especially the free plan, against what competitors offer at the same price.
These findings show up in each review’s pros, cons, and verdict — they’re not published as separate sub-scores, since the one number we do publish (the G2 rating) already comes from a large, independent sample of real users.
How comparisons, alternatives, and use-case picks are built
Recommendations in our comparison tables, alternative guides, and use-case roundups are built from three checkable inputs, not personal preference:
- The tool’s current G2 rating (or its absence, if unverified).
- Whether its feature set and integrations actually match what the page is about — a “Best for Sales Teams” pick needs real CRM sync, not just a Salesforce logo somewhere on the vendor site.
- Explicit fit to the stated criteria on that page — every use-case guide lists the criteria we screened tools against before publishing.
Where a figure hasn’t been independently confirmed — a pricing tier, a free-plan limit, an integration count — we flag it inline rather than publish it as settled fact.
Updates
Reviews and comparisons are revisited periodically as products change and as we verify figures that were still pending. When a page has been substantively updated since it was first published, that’s noted alongside the byline.
